Alternative Auricular Points to Sympathetic Point

Sympathetic Alternative Points Blog Feature

In the realm of holistic wellness, ear seeding has emerged as a compelling method for restoring balance and regulating various bodily functions, including those governed by the autonomic nervous system (ANS).

The ANS is the hero operating behind the scenes managing heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, digestion, breathing, and hormonal balanceā€”all so that we don't have to think about those things-- they happen automatically.

One of the best points for managing that ANS is the Sympathetic point. However, It's a hidden point on the inferior antihelix crus under the helix and finding it on your own ear can be challenging.

Recognizing this difficulties of finding this point opens the door to alternative strategies for achieving similar therapeutic benefits.

Alternative Points to Sympathetic -- Point Zero and Brainstem

One alternative approach involves stimulating points associated with the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve plays a pivotal role in regulating the body's essential functions, mirroring the effects attributed to the Sympathetic point.

By targeting the vagus nerve through alternate auricular points, individuals can experience comparable results in promoting autonomic balance.

Point Zero is one alternative the the Sympathetic Point. It has been coined the "vagus nerve point" by the mother of auriculotherapy, Dr. Li Chun Huang. This point is much easier to access since it's located near the end of the helix crus before it dips into the concha.

Another noteworthy point for consideration in this context is the Brainstem point. The vagus nerve originates from the brainstem and shares the functions of regulating the ANS.

Its location on the inside wall of the junction between the antitragus and antihelix makes it more accessible for self-application compared to the Sympathetic point. Stimulating the Brainstem point through ear seeding can thus serve as an effective alternative for regulating the body's autonomic functions.
